Jat Community Gotras (जाट)

The Jat community is renowned for having one of the strictest gotra exogamy systems in the world. Traditionally, marriage is forbidden within four gotras: the father’s gotra (own gotra), the mother’s gotra (Maternal / Mausi), the paternal grandmother’s gotra (Dadi), and frequently the maternal grandmother’s gotra (Nani). Jat lineages trace both to Vedic sage lineages like Kashyapa and ancient heroic clan patriarchs.

जाट समाज में गोत्र व्यवस्था अत्यंत सुदृढ़ और अनुशासित है। पारंपरिक रूप से विवाह में चार गोत्र (पिता का गोत्र, माता का गोत्र, दादी का गोत्र और नानी का गोत्र) टाले जाते हैं। जाट गोत्र प्राचीन ऋषि परंपरा और क्षेत्रीय पराक्रमी वंशों से जुड़े हैं।
