Agarwal Community Gotras (अग्रवाल)

The Agarwal (Agrawal) community traces its ancestry to Maharaja Agrasen, the revered ruler of Agroha (modern-day Haryana). To establish harmony and social unity, Maharaja Agrasen organized 18 grand Vedic yagnas under the stewardship of 18 illustrious sages (Rishis). Each of his 18 sons was bestowed with the gotra of the presiding sage. The community strictly observes Sagotra marriage exogamy, ensuring matrimonial alliances are only made between different gotras.
